First 2009/2010 History Project

making a Roman standard with Daddy

This year in History the kiddos are learning about Medieval Times. Currently we're studying the end of the Roman Empire and learning so much! I feel like I'm learning right along with them because most of the History I got growing up was North Carolina History. Just like last year I love, love, love the curriculum we're using! They give such great ideas on projects, crafts, extra books, cooking ideas, etc. that go along with each chapter.

we are SO proud of you, Cailey!

on the way home she had a lime sno cone:)

Cailey had her second triathlon the morning after we got back from the beach (08/29). We hesitated letting her do it because we knew she'd be super tired but she REALLY wanted to so we signed her up. She had a cold the whole time we were at the beach and her cough was really acting up during her swim but she was able to finish all three laps...an AWESOME accomplishment for her! The biking and running went great...but she was exhausted after it was over.

This triathlon didn't start quite as early as her last one and the swimming took place outside. The biking and running distance were the same as before but she had to swim one extra lap. We were SO proud of her and amazed that she could do it as tired as she was! Way to go, Cailey!

When we got home she said she can't wait to do another one!

Deeper Still

The last weekend in July I went to the Deeper Still Conference in Greensboro with Beth, Janet, and Laura. It was AMAZING!! The speakers were Kay Arthur, Beth Moore, and Priscilla Shirer. Travis Cottrell led the worship which was awesome! I took so many notes and was truly inspired by these amazing women of God. The thing that stuck out to me the most is that they were so normal...with normal problems....normal stories....and normal lives. I identified with them. I learned so much and feel like it helped pull me out of a 'funk' I've been in for a while. I'm so thankful that I went and would go again in a heartbeat! It was also great that I was with three of my closest friends:).

Fun Memories: Janet tp-ing the hotel room, running 4 miles with Beth at midnight, the milkshake 'nightmare', bison burgers, the pull out sofa, embarrassing stories, Janet's first time eating CFA for breakfast:)
