We started new Easter/Lent traditions this year. Every night...for 40 nights we got together and watched Jesus carrying the cross closer and closer to Easter day. It was great for reflection...and for teaching the children just how hard it was and how much he went through...for them. There was bible reading... then resurrection eggs (and a GREAT book that goes along with them) for the last 12 days...it was awesome.
Afterwards Cailey or Braden would play either "Amazing Grace" or "Holy, Holy, Holy" on the piano and we'd sing together. Precious time...even Ephram joined in.
We also made resurrection rolls for the first time this year starting with Cailey reading The Easter Story. We went through each step...and they LOVED the visualization of putting the oils and spices on 'Jesus' then wrapping Him in cloths...
They had no idea what was going to happen..though they did have predictions (none of them being that HE would be gone). Then the tomb was ready and it was EMPTY!! The kids loved this and it will definitely be a tradition from now on. Great way to let them visualize the empty tomb and see that He is Risen!
