after a picnic the kids started at the roosters and macaw
and it was time for our wagon ride! i LOVED seeing
the ostriches...my favorite! we were told that we needed
to feed the two legged animals from the buckets but could
feed the four legged animals from our hands.
Cailey started SCREAMING when she realized this
animal was sneaking underneath trying to get the food
bucket...after we took it away, we were able to hand feed it.
(a lot of the animals were from India and Africa..I don't remember
all their names)

kinsey was scared at the first couple animals but warmed
up quickly and joined right in!

it was supposed to be a hot day
but it really wasn't that bad with the
breeze and shade. we also went at the perfect
time because the school kids were all leaving so
it felt like we had the whole place to ourselves.

another cool thing is that it's spring. there were baby animals
EVERYWHERE! this was the baby zebra who was 4 weeks old.
the zebras were the one animal we were told not to feed because
they bite. apparently cailey didn't believe them and tried...as a result the
zebra took the bucket right out of her hand..the whole thing! i was happy
it didn't bite HER!

after the wagon ride we walked around the petting zoo area
and saw the CUTEST baby animals...a baby giraffe being fed, a
baby goat who was HOURS old, and a couple others.

sibling shots
more playground time...it was AWESOME to have the
whole place to ourselves!

ephram LOVES to swing but was too
small for them...our solution worked out great
and cailey was thrilled!
We had a family fun day a couple Fridays ago and started out at Lazy 5 Ranch. I have been wanting to go there for a few years and am so glad we were able to go. I HIGHLY recommend taking the wagon ride when you go...it was so much fun! They stopped constantly and told us all about the animals as well as giving us tips about feeding them. The animals also seemed to come to the wagons more than they did the cars (that we could see out there).
Side Story:
We were on a fairly empty wagon with just a few other families and it seemed like all of them had at least two adopted children! I'm a bit obsessed with ethiopian and african american adoptions these days (NO, we are not adopting again) and there was a white lady with two african american sons and a hispanic daughter. Cailey asked if they were adopted and the mom said yes. Cailey (who I've gotten obsessed with Ethiopian adoptions) was so excited and said, "where are they adopted from?" The mom's response had us all giggling when she said, "Charlotte". Cailey was totally confused because she was just sure they were from Ethiopia:).
Funny Story:
Braden was feeding an animal (can't remember what it was) and said, "it's trying to eat me!!" The animal was actually trying to take his food bucket away and we were able to help him out and save the bucket, food, and arm:).
We spent hours at the ranch riding, walking around, eating, playing, swinging, feeding, petting, and just taking it all in. We'll definitely be going back in the future! This was one of our best family field trips ever!
