We made plans to go to Great Wolf Lodge with the Klick's back in December when Brian had two weeks off of work. Unfortunately it was during the time Brian and I (and the Klick's) were sick so we had to cancel the trip. The kids didn't know about it so they weren't disappointed. We wanted to go while it was still winter and went last weekend from Sunday to Monday. Brian and I didn't tell the kiddos about it at.all. They had no idea we were going on a trip because we packed everything when they weren't looking (or were oblivious to what we were doing). I had them try on bathing suits and everything but they simply didn't ask about it.... I don't think I could get away with it again but couldn't WAIT to see the surprise on their faces.
Sunday morning we all got in the van and the kiddos assumed we were going to church (we never lied...or told them we were...it was Sunday, afterall so no questions were asked:). After about 20 minutes Cailey said, "I guess we're not going to Crossroads this morning." Kinsey was the only suspicious one and asked a few times but we just let the kids answer (who quickly chimed in, "to church!") We were very surprised that she was the most curious one...the one who thought something wasn't right. Finally after 45 minutes Cailey said, "We've never gone this way to get to Providence before" I just laughed..couldn't help myself. Because we go to Salisbury every couple of months Cailey started noticing familiar landmarks and finally figured out that we were going somewhere different. After 1 hour 15 minutes I told them it was a surprise and I'd finally tell them where we were going. With their breaths sucked in from excitement I said, "Are you ready??" (they were dying to find out:) "We're going to CONCORD!!!" "Isn't that GREAT??"
Their response, "Concord? What's that?" Oh the fun I had with my children all the way there! They never found out until we pulled up and I said I wanted a picture of all of us in front of the sign. We got out, took the picture, and I told everyone to get back in the van (so we could go park). Cailey immediately burst out crying and said, "we drove all the way here to take a picture and now we're going home??" HA! At that moment I realized that none of them knew what Great Wolf Lodge was (even though their friends have talked about it before). Oh the excitement for mommy! I made them pose in front of some more things before going inside.
When we got inside Cailey saw people in bathing suits and said, "we get to go swimming?" Yes, Cailey, we get to swim here. Then she saw people with suitcases and said, "Are we at a hotel where we can SLEEP?" (She was beyond excited...we could have said we were going just to sleep and she would have been thrilled). Braden didn't ever ask...just took it all in. Kinsey wanted desperately to understand but didn't. Cailey started with 20 questions until I finally told them...
notice cailey and braden 'got it' immediately and it took kinsey a couple minutes of watching their reactions, taking it in, and finally understanding:) love that girl!
water sprays, wave pools, water basketball, obstacle courses, slides, slides, slides, tubes, more slides....
i wasn't crazy about this slide but EVERYONE else in the family loved it so i watched ephram in the 'kiddie' park while they all raced over and over on their stomachs through tubes until finally coming out and checking their times. brian and brandon raced over and over...just like the kiddos.
ready to go again...while ephram was off spraying people:)
Cailey and Braden loved being the wave pool together!
we were able to count it as a school day (j/k) because brian had the kids do a math problem and figure out how much water was dumped out a day when they dumped 1000 gallons every 3 minutes:)
LOVED that the kids could go on ALL the slides
at GWL. there was one (the tornado) that only cailey (and caden)
were tall enough for but they were happy to go on the others
whenever braden and kinsey wanted them to.
we got there at 12:45 and were in the pool by 1 (the earliest time we could get in) and stayed until it was time to go change into jammies and get ready for story time (which they have in the lobby at 8). while we were waiting for everyone to finish dinner I had the kids doing races/obstacles/relays and playing 20 questions. If they weren't already tired from the waterpark they sure were after we did that! Cailey and Caden doing pushups! (The others were doing them behind me).
here comes braden! and ALL that klick money:)
sweet babies joining in on the races and posing for a camera crazy mama.
we went down to the lobby where the forest 'came alive' with a story. then wylie (the wolf) came down and helped read, "The Napping House."

looks like a ton of fun! How long has it been there? Never heard of it until you. These "Klicks" seem like really neat people that maybe I can meet? Love you and glad that you all had a great time!
