ice skating!

it was predicted (for a week in advance) that we were getting 6 inches of snow. anyone who knows me well knows that because i grew up in NC i have a 'i'll believe it when i see it' attitude when it comes to predicted snow storms a WHOLE WEEK ahead of time. even up to the day before i still don't hold my breath it'll happen. we never tell the kids it's supposed to snow because we don't want to disappoint them...plus they are even MORE excited because they get surprised when they see it after waking up. this time someone else told them about it...everyday...that it was coming. i warned them about being too excited about it because it may not happen. these pics represent our '6 inches' of snow aka not even 1 inch of ice.

even though it didn't snow the kids still had a great time ice skating on the back porch and in the backyard. they were out there giggling for hours! they all came in with wet bottoms and knees from slipping and falling on the ice so much. the ice stayed around for days and they had fun playing in it everyday.
