Cake Bake 2011

supportive siblings!

the cake i made with my little man. we had to make a cake with camping as our theme and everything had to be edible...and i only wanted to use things we had laying around the pantry. thankfully it was the day after easter so we actually had candy in the house which helped a lot. we only had the afternoon to make the cake because we had just gotten back from nonny and poppy's house the night before. the bushes are made out of coconut, pretzel/frosting/sprinkle trees, triscuit tents, jelly bean rocks, pretzel logs, frosting water, oreo/triscuit trail, and tootsie roll fire pit.

the competition

the boys got to vote 5 times for cakes (only once for their own) then the judges would also choose 1st, 2nd and 3rd. our category had the most cakes (more than seen in the pic) so it would be a tough competition!

while the cakes were getting judged there were all sorts of relays, cake walks, catapult launches, sports, etc. going on outside in the GORGEOUS weather. the siblings had a blast too! OH..and Braden was the ONLY scout (out of TONS) to get the ball in the bucket from the catapult:).

a focused girl with bloody knees from a fall and a sad boy who was just
told that three chocolate cookies was all he would be having before bed

braden had a BLAST!

at one point all four kiddos were on the same relay team...love it!

cailey decided (ALL on her own) to help ephram do the relay which meant she was willing to lose to let her baby brother help. such LOVE. mama bear's eyes teared up to seem my competitive girl make that choice.

braden LOVES relays as much as his sisters:)

after the outside fun we came back in to watch a great puppet show and listen to a song the scouts made up. last we found out that braden won a bronze spoon (3rd place) from the judges for design!! YAY! it was unexpected but a great surprise:)!
