Cailey's First Swim Meet

excited and ready to go!

her cheering section was huge! auntie anne, nonny,
poppy, braden, kinsey, ephram, mommy, daddy, and
the williams:)

hanging out with some other girls...this
made her seem so 'grown up'

daddy and poppy:
it was HOT and SUNNY early in
the morning so we were all looking for shade.

trying to keep nonny and e shaded.

playing with nonny

they were great cheerleaders!

on deck...and some encouraging words from harrison!
they are SO great about cheering each other on...we are so
blessed to know someone else on this journey with us.

backstroke

she was THRILLED! i love how she sticks her tongue out
when she's focused

she swam back and free for the first meet.
they let the kids choose their events.
i have a feeling we have relays in our future.

Cailey LOVED her first swim meet and can't wait for another. She tried her best and that's all we care about! Brian took her early (7:30 am) to warm up before we joined them when the meet started (9:00am). He said they made them swim 100 freestyle and 50's of breast, fly (which she can NOT do) and back. I was so afraid when I saw how long the warm up was that they would do that and she'd be too tired out to swim during the race. Personally I think it's too much BEFORE the race but that's just my opinion. We are SUPER proud of her for being able to do that much swimming! Her motto is slow and steady wins the race:). (AWESOME for practice but there are some really fast swimmers on her team).

Another thing I'm not crazy about is that they don't give ribbons for each heat. I get it. There are a lot of kids. BUT I would have NEVER gotten a ribbon if they didn't break it down by heats as a kid. I hope they change it at some point so she can get one before she's too discouraged. She had her heart SET on a ribbon but I had prepared her once I got the email stating that only the 6 fastest swimmers of each event/ age group would get them.

One meet down and four to go! We are SO proud of you, Cailey!! It was a BLAST cheering you on!
