Apple Dumplings aka Mt. Dew Apples

This recipe is a FAVORITE of everyone in our family! Every fall (usually after we go apple picking) I make it several times. This year we've had several dinner guests and got TONS of free crescents at a sale so I've been making it for dessert a lot. Brian (who normally doesn't like fruit desserts) LOVES it. Here it is....the apple dumpling recipe everyone keeps asking for:):

2 cans crescents
2 granny smith apples
2 c sugar
2 sticks butter
2 tsp cinnamon
1 can mountain dew

Peel, core and slice each apple (divide into eighths). Roll apples starting at wide edge of each crescent triangle trying to cover apples as much as possible. Melt butter, sugar, and cinnamon and mix. Line 13 x 9 baker with apple crescents and pour melted mixture over top. Top with one can of mountain dew (around the perimeter). Bake at 350 for 45 minutes. Eat with vanilla ice cream...make enough because it'll be gone quickly:).
