tommy and ted

We are having CRAZY, hot, stormy weather here in Raleigh this fall and it's brought nature to our front door! The kids played with 'our' turtle, Tommy, all weekend while I was at the mountains before Brian returned him to his natural habitat. I love it that we can have temporary pets just by walking outside and finding the twice a year turtle:)!

chasing it:)

it could turn over quickly by sticking it's head WAY out and flipping. it also had strange red eyes.

sweet ephram just kept saying, "turtle go?" when it was gone

Last night we had yet another crazy storm that brought this turtle, Ted, to our home this morning. Ted didn't last as long as he was VERY aggressive and fast. I've never seen a turtle move as fast in my life and he stayed out of his shell the whole time...didn't even care when people came near. We did school and came back to find that Ted had somehow managed to climb out of the plastic box and down our front steps. We weren't surprised at all because we had seen him flip over several times and all he wanted to do was get away. This is now the THIRD different kind of turtle the kiddos have gotten to 'foster' in two months!
