another field trip!

meeting with the officer

We went on a field trip to the police station with our co op and the kids had a great time...and learned a lot. One of the things they learned (that was pretty amazing) is that only 8 officers have died on duty since they started keeping records in the late 1800's...and 3/4 of those were from traffic accidents...pretty amazing! We live in a very safe community for officers. The pictures in the background were those who are 'fallen officers.'

Next up the kids went upstairs to see all the important information the officers needed to know for the day. They also asked lots of questions:)!

one of their favorite parts was getting to check out all the
'fun' things the officer carried. they learned that their equipment (inluding
their vest) is VERY heavy. i pray this is the ONLY time i see my kiddos in
handcuffs!

Next up they were given hats and then got a tour of the car and got to sit in it. Cailey asked lots of questions about the inside of the police car and how safe it was. Of course they also got to hear the siren and see the lights.

buddies hanging out...and girls in the car

this officer answered more of their questions and talked about
the importance of making good choices:). it was a very informative and fun
field trip for the kiddos!
