American Heritage Girls

Cailey did Girl Scouts in first grade but we only did one year since they were changing their curriculum to teach things that we (as a family) do not agree with or support. This year both of the girls have started going to American Heritage Girls which is JUST like Girl Scouts only Christian. It has been SO neat and it is actually affiliated with Boy Scouts (unlike Girl Scouts...as the Boy Scouts would never join together with them). They earn badges, do crafts, and play games but their main focus is Christ...and service. The girls are LOVING our homeschool troop which meets every other Friday for two hours.

Kinsey is very shy in groups (shockingly) but really enjoys it and is starting to make some new friends. She came home one day and told me all about Chloe who looked like her:). She said Chloe was Chinese so that meant that she was Chinese too. Great opportunity to talk about different ethnicity's:). In her group they memorize scripture and earn beads for their necklaces for that and service.

Cailey is also loving it and was happy to see some familiar faces. Abby (who is in soccer and co op) and Kiley and Averie (who she knows from field trips and the pool) are in AHG with her too. So far Cailey has learned a TON about women in the military, had q&a with a soldier (male), packed boxes for the military, and is just starting a new badge. They even brought home 'military' food and made spaghetti and meatballs, cookies, pot roast, muffins, and more! They liked everything except for the roast. She looks forward to going every week and is sad when it's time to leave. I LOVE that she's learning while having fun:)!

This year I'm not helping lead either of their groups because ephram and alex need naps (even if they are short on Friday's)...it's SO nice that they have enough leadership for me to just drop the girls off.
