Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Last night the kids were busy making tie dye shamrocks, coffee filter rainbows, painting, scrapping, cutting, and getting all ready for a party.  We usually prepare well in advance but with the house being on the market we've been waiting until the last minute for our little holidays (Valentine's, Seuss, today).

They had a quick breakfast of green waffles and green milk before going to church

When we got home it was time to finish the party prep!  I got to work on the food while the kids worked on decorations.

I also decided to do a little experiment for Kinsey and Ephram (though Cailey and Braden still get a kick out of it). We bought white carnations and put them in rainbow colored dye. Ephram couldn't wait for the flowers to drink their 'healfy water" and Kinsey was guessing they would change colors.

Lunch was ALL green.  Shamrock peppers, celery, pickles, cucumbers...who says it can't be healthy?

I made fruit kabobs with green grapes, apple, pear, and kiwi (cailey's favorite...and a surprise!) I also made a pudding dessert for them using Lucky Charms layered in like a trifle.

the main dish was spinach wraps with hummus, lettuce, and turkey..along with extra shamrocks

oh..and green milk, of course. afternoon snack was a green smoothie (made green by healthy spinach, of course)

i love making this day so fun for them!

they devoured it ALL....well...almost all. they did leave some celery behind.

Sundays are our craziest days and the kids have to eat dinner in between mission kids and choir (at church) so they brought some yummy wraps and I made a big bowl of green fruit salad for them.

Along with the festivities there was lots of dancing together, silliness, reading St. Patrick's Day books, and laughing!
