Spring Piano Recital

hanging out with before the recital

i turned around and noticed these two holding hands:)
LOVE their friendship!

Cailey chose Beauty and the Beast to play at the recital and initially Ms. Jewel thought it would be too hard but gave her one week to see if she could learn the first two pages (out of 5). Cailey worked and worked until she learned it...practicing WAY more than usual. She was determined and earned the chance to play it at the recital! I have never seen her more focused at piano as she was learning this song...and I've always said if my piano teacher had let me play songs I knew then I wouldn't have quit so early. Cailey is very talented..but has a GREAT ear that sometimes makes it hard for her to focus on learning rhythm and pay attention to dynamics. Thankfully Ms. Jewel is recognizing that and helping her work on it! We LOVE Ms. Jewel and are so happy that she is teaching them.

Braden is very happy to practice piano and focuses on every little detail...especially dynamics! He is flying through his books and recently started learning extra songs on his own so he can finish them more quickly. He loves piano and is always excited to play the new songs he's learned. Oh...and just like Cailey he's great at memorizing them!

They played a duet together and it was SO sweet! I love that Jewel has them play together. They learned "This Little Light of Mine"...and did awesome! Braden also played the Hamster Dance (and Cailey played Beauty and the Beast).

They both worked hard and earned a trophy (only several children out of a TON got them) with Braden earning the biggest one first. She worked on a point system and he was her only student to get to 100 points!

We LOVE listening to our pianists!! Kinsey is already wanting to follow in their footsteps and learned Mary Had a Little Lamb...which she likes to play over and over:).
