Fall Treats

I made applesauce a couple weeks ago after we went apple picking but haven't had the time to make anything else until this week. When Cailey came home from school we decided to make LOTS of baked apples and a couple dozen apple muffins. The kids really had fun helping out and it almost felt like a science, math, and vocabulary lesson because we talked about measurement (and doubling a recipe so we had to figure out how much to add), what a 'dozen' means, and we were able to talk about the individual ingredients and their purpose (baking powder, eggs and where they come from, sugar etc.). It was a great time and EVERYONE was happy! Most of all we have muffins for breakfast and enough baked apples to freeze. The sad part is that we are now out of apples:). OH, and Kinsey learned how to say, "apple" and practiced "Uh Oh" a lot because she kept dropping things in the batter!

How awesome are you? I don't feel guilty now........no, not me:) I'm usually good to let Becca pour something into the mix if I'm not saying "no, mommy doesn't need your help". Must.....fight......mommy guilt!
