true empathy...
Kinsey gets a bad rap sometimes because she's so different than the others were at her age. (We like to say she's more "active") One of her many positive traits is that she's VERY empathetic (unless she is the cause of the pain:)....as well as protective of her siblings! Whenever Cailey or Braden gets hurt she's the first one to make sure their alright. One time Cailey threw a brick over a fence and ended up getting hurt. Kinsey ran over to the fence and kicked it, yelling "NO, NO!!" Then she wanted to kiss Cailey's boo boo...all this withOUT prompting from anyone. Yesterday Cailey tripped and fell down outside and scraped both of her knees:(. Kinsey thought a little girl knocked Cailey down and once again pointed at her and said, NO, NO!! When Cailey came inside, Kinsey ran to get a tissue and started wiping at the blood. We ended up giving Kinsey the wet rag to clean the wounds because she wanted to help so much! We did, however, have to teach her to how to be gentle with her 'help'. Kinsey was very aware of the wound and every time it started bleeding she would once again run to get the rag. She was also very loving to Cailey and would rub her arm, hold her hand, and say, "shh shh". I have taught elementary school and preschool for a combined 8 years and have never seen any child be so empathetic! I can't wait to see how this plays out in her future...perhaps we have a nurse or doctor on our hands:)!
