School Daze

Seoul of Hamilton Academy is officially open for the year. We started 'school lite' the week before the beach, which means English/Reading/Math. This past week was our first of doing all the subjects. Since Braden spent three days at Brian's office/and the eye dr. I did their 'teaching' at night and they did independent work during the day. Braden's eye is yet another huge benefit to homeschooling! He would have missed three days in the first week alone but isn't behind at all.

Cailey and Braden are doing mostly 5th grade this year with 6th grade math since we were done with all the Right Start Levels. Kinsey is doing 1st grade, and Ephram is doing preschool with me.

5th grader, 3rd grader, and 1st grader!

I have LOVED pulling out all my preschool things and doing them with Ephram this week! I plan on blogging a separate post about that though.

Curriculum:

Cailey/Braden-

Math- 6th grade Horizons
English- Rod and Staff (everything else is Grade 5)
Geography/Civics- 50 states/capital project, civics with daddy
History- Story of the World
Science- they are taking an apologia class at Open Door, so they'll sit in when I read Kinsey's
Spelling- Spelling Power
Handwriting- Zaner Blouser (Cailey- 5th, Braden 3rd)
Writing- journal, etc.
Typing- Mavis Beacon (Level 1 for Braden, 2 for Cailey)
Latin- Latin for Children (I've had it for two years and am finally doing it...so far they LOVE it!)
Draw Right Now- book 4

Kinsey (1st grade)-
Phonics- Ordinary Parents Guide to Teaching Reading
Right Start Math
Spelling Workout B
Zaner Blouser Handwriting (Grade 2)
History- Story of the World Year 1
Science- Apologia Animals
Grammar- First Language Lessons
Writing- journal
Reading- 1-2 chapters a day
Draw Write Now- book 1

**I get all of Kinsey's work done from 7:30-9 on Monday and whenever the other two are out at piano. On the days when the others go for a run or aren't ready yet I'll also do hers first. This way she can have some time to play with Ephram and just play. It works out nicely:)!

History- Story of the World

I'm pretty sure that's everything...for now, at least!

Cailey and Braden were also planning on doing Competitive Edge Swimming at the Y but until Braden's eye clears up we won't be pursuing that. When they do start it'll be Mon/Wed/Fri 4-5.
Talk about busy Fridays! Plus we are going to start gymnastics for Kinsey and Braden but haven't figured out the time.

I think?? that's all for the fall. I'll add as I remember or add other things.
