Kinsey is learning about animals this year in Science and the other kids are sitting in on her reading because they both love it so much. Kinsey chooses three animals a week for us to learn about. While we were studying polar bears we did an experiment with cold water. The kids tried to see how long they could keep their hands in ice cold water. It.was.cold! Cailey was able to keep hers in the longest at 35 seconds (longer than me!)
Then they covered their hand with lard (crisco) and put it in the water again and were able to hold it in a lot longer. They could have kept it in for hours. Kinsey learned that polar bears can stay in the freezing water temperatures because God gave them layers of fat so they don't feel the cold like we would.
I love being able to teach through experiments:). These are the things they will remember!
