July 4th, 2008!!

We LOVE July 4th in our family and have lots of traditions! We always listen to patriotic music in the morning while we are getting ready...and really all day long. Then we head up to Wake Forest for games, crafts, food, a playground, and a picnic! (This year was special for Cailey because she was able to bring her friend Suzy with us.) After naps and dinner we go to the fairgrounds where the kids each get to pick out something yummy to eat. Cailey ALWAYS picks a candy apple, and Braden picks a pretzel....except this year he chose a candy apple too. Kinsey gets whatever she's in the mood for (which was a candy apple this year...I'm boycotting them next year though...they are TOO messy:). After that we go back to the car (which is always parked in a grassy area) and play while we wait for fireworks!! We've done this every year we've lived down here...and will continue as long as the kiddos want to! We added sparklers into the fun this year too, which the kiddos LOVED! Tonight when we went to the fireworks we invited friends which made it even more fun...until the lightening started! The kids were there the WHOLE time and about 20 minutes before the fireworks we had to leave. They were pretty sad about the whole thing so we came home and let them stay up and watch the fireworks on TV. Clearly NOT the same, but it helped them to feel better:).
